Day 3 P3

Weight 137.8 - +1 (Not worried about the gain at all. Still in my 2 lb window and I had .6 loss yesterday)

I know I can eat more foods, but honestly salads sounds the best right now, so I'm sticking to that.

Breakfast - Crustless Quiche & Latte

Lunch - Rest of the Quiche & Zevia (I feel like such a rebel having Zevia! LOL)

Dinner - Salad, w/grilled chicken & Ranch

Dessert - To.Die.For Cheese Cake! OMG! This was oh so good! I'm thinking my tummy does not like dairy though. It was still worth it.

Recipe

    2 Eggs
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup Xylitol (Natural Sweetner-doesn't effect insulin /blood sugar)
    16 oz cream cheese, softened.
    2 T melted butter.

In a large bowl, blend together eggs, vanilla, sour cream and Xylitol.
Slowly add butter and cream cheese.
Spoon mix into a 10 inch cake pan or ramekins.

If desired, you can make a crust from 1 1.2 cups ground almonds, 1/4 cup xylitol and 1/4 butter. Mix all together like you would graham cracker crust and line pan or ramekins.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 20-25 min if cooking ramekins, 35-40 min for cake pan. This will not look done, but will firm up when refrigerated.

Place ramekins in a water bath or place a shallow pan with water in oven below the pan or ramekins.

For the topping, I pureed the strawberries with a little xylitol and poured over the cheese cake. I topped it with homemade whip cream and added strawberries and blueberries.

Place in refrigerator until it is chilled. It can be frozen too.

YUMMMMO!

Day 2 P3

Okay, I was petrified to weigh today after my first day of P3...and as much as I procrastinated and prepared myself for a correction day, I got on the scale anyway.

It was down .6! Woot! I know I'm not supposed to lose, but it's a new number and hard to not be happy about it! I won't let it go down or up more than 2 lbs. 136 baby!!! Just 6 more to go when I go back on VLCD.

Anyway, I'm so excited and relieved. I was so bloated yesterday. I think I drank 2 gallons of water!

I'm liking this P3.

I really haven't been that hungry. I know you can gain if you don't eat enough. It will be interesting to find that balance especially since I'm used to eating 1200-1400 calories.

Breakfast - Eggs, bacon & latte
Lunch - Grilled chicken salad
Snack - Strawberries
Dinner - Chicken Caesar Salad

I really like having the variety of foods, but have no desire to "go off the deep end" with food like I thought I would.

I'm not as scared to see what the scale says tomorrow. I feel much better about P3.

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Do I Have to?

I'm scared to death to step on the scale after my first P3 day!

I feel like I've gained 5 lbs. I've been drinking a ton of water. Maybe it's just water and it will be gone tomorrow. I really don't want to get on the scale in the morning! I'm thinking I'll need a correction day after my very first day! YIKES!

So, here is what I had today.

Bfast - 4 pieces of bacon, 1 egg 3 whites, coffee

Lunch - Small Chicken Caesar Salad

Snack - Cup of Strawberries

Dinner - Chicken breast & 1/2 avocado

Calories - 1001 - Yep, went over the 800 I planned. Oh well.
Water - 160 ounces

First P3 Day!

P3D1 - 137.4

Well my weight has been the same since my LDW. I was hoping it would go down a little on my two non dosing days, but no such luck. I'm still hanging at 137.4

I hope after today, I'm still there and not gaining. It's kind of weird to be able to eat so much more and lots of fat and stabilize.

Today was my first day of P3! I'm an official P3er now!

I am sooo enjoying it! I've been doubling up on my probiotics for P3 and taking digestive enzymes before each meal. My stomach gurgled a bit this morning, but so far my body seems to be handling the fat fine! I think it's pretty happy about it actually!

My coffee this morning was divine! I frothed my milk and added Vanilla Cream Stevia and sprinkled cinnamon on top. It rivaled Starbucks for sure! It tasted so rich and creamy! I also had eggs cooked with coconut oil with salsa and some bacon.

For lunch we went to a organic cafe. I had a Chicken Caesar Salad, and tonight I think hubby is grilling some fish and veggies.
The best part of the day was my coffee and being able to use my skincare products and deodorant!

2nd Non Dose Day

Weight 137.4 - No Change. I guess that is good. However many people still lose on non-dosing days which gives some wiggle room for the 2 lbs range.

Well, I was really concerned about being hungry on my Non-Dose Day. I am so pleased I haven't been hungry at ALL! I didn't even eat dinner until 7pm.

I think I figured out it was the apples that were making me hungry! After hearing so many people mentioning that apples made them hungry I started looking at my eating logs and sure enough, the day I haven't had an apple, I haven't been hungry! So bye-bye apples!

I'm really excited about having eggs/bacon and coffee for breakfast tomorrow and a salad for lunch. Who would have thought I'd be so excited about mixing my veggies again! LOL

I really want to make sure I do this break right, so I'm planning out my meals and calories and ramping up. For the 4 days, I'll have 800/1200/1500/17-1800 cals. I will plan it out in fitday to make sure I'm on target!

Day 23 No Dose Day

Well after going back and forth many, many, many times. I decided to take a 4-5 day interruption.
I had a .2 loss today so I think my body is ready for a break. I've been really hungry the last few days too, so that combined with the slow losses the last week have helped me make my decision.

So here's my 3 week results.....

Lbs lost - 13.2 Preload/16.2
Body Fat % 3.2 I miss calculated last week.

I'm down 2 pant sizes!

Chest - 2 inches
Waist - 2 1/2 inches
Hips - 2 inches
Thighs - 2 1/4
Abs 2 1/2" (the biggest part of my tummy)
Hips 2"
Thighs 2 1/4"
Rt. Calf 3/4"
Rt. Arm 3/4"
I'm really happy with the way I look in clothes and how they fit. I went down 2 pant sizes. I'm a little disappointed in my 3 week pictures even though it's quite a difference from the first week, because I have more to go than I thought. I was thinking of 130, but maybe 125-127?? Hubby says no less than 130. We'll see how I feel when I get there!

I'm taking a 4-5 day planned interruption and look forward to coming back to P2 and getting the rest off!

I have vacation in 2 weeks and it will be so nice to be able to feel comfortable in my bathing suit!

I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't hungry today! I was a little concerned how hungry I'd be since I didn't dose today. I hope tomorrow is just as easy.

And we have a release!!

Day 21 137.6 (-.8)

All day long I was thinking I weighed 138.6 yesterday and thought I lost a lb.
Oh well .8 is still substantial enough for me to keep on this train! I will stay on it until it slows down and makes me get off! I'm happy to keep going even though I was dreaming of salads and eggs with coffee and cream!

So I guess I'll just be taking this day to day. I'm a little nervous for what tomorrow will bring!
One important thing to note. Make sure you weigh the same time everyday. I woke up at 5 am and weighed and the scale hadn't budged at ALL. I went back to bed and woke up 3 hrs later and what do you know, we have a .8 loss. (even though I thought it was 1 lb. LOL)

So lunch today...yep same ole' thing. But I like my boring lunches because I don't have to think about it. I just do it. It's simple, and it works.

Lunch -

Hamburger patty
Apple
Grissini
1/2 Cucumber

Hot Chai Tea w/ 1 T Milk

Fighting with the Scale!

Day 20 138.4 (-.2)

Well I can't lie and say I wasn't disappointed to see the scale today. I first got on it, it didn't change. I stepped on it two more times and finally fought for a .2 release!

I know that this happens especially towards the end, but I have 8-10 more lbs to lose and I need to lose it before vacation in two weeks because my schedule is crazy after that and it's not real conducive to P2 eating.

If I don't lose a substantial amount tomorrow, then I will finish my 21 days of dosing, followed by 2 days of non dosing, and start P3 on Sunday for 4 days, then go back to P2 and hopefully lose the rest before vacation. Many times, a break will jump start weight loss again.

As much as I want to start eating a variety of food, I have gotten used to this and I'm not hungry anymore, I just assume get it all done with and enjoy my vacation in 2 weeks!

Can't say that bacon, eggs and coffee don't sound good though! :)

Lunch -

Grilled Chicken Breast
Spinach
Apple

Dinner -

Hamburger Patty
Cucumbers
Graprefruit

Calories - 500 Exactly!
Water 145 - bumping up water for some movement on the scale!

Big Fat Zero

Day 19 - 138.6 - 0

Well I didn't lose anything today and I am totally okay with that. After yesterday's big loss, I wasn't expecting a big one anyway. It all works out.

As long as I keep losing weight, I will stick with P2. I'm thinking of taking a "Planned Interruption" for 4-5 days to jump start my weight loss again. I've heard of people doing that and getting the same gains they did the first week. So we will see what this crazy body decides to do!

I feel like I eat the same food all the time, so I didn't log it.

A New Decade!

Day 17 VLCD 139.8 (- .6)

Woo hooo! I'm in the 130's!!! I'm really sitting here in disbelief that 17 days ago, I weighed 153 and I'm now 139.8. I LOVE this "diet". It has been so worth it to have missed out on lunches and dinners with friends and staying home and following protocol. It's such a short time to sacrifice for these results.

10 more lbs to go to goal!!

I'm so thankful that I'm no longer hungry at all!

Okay so, I didn't log what I ate yesterday. I'm kind of slacking on blogging it. I feel like I eat the same thing everyday!

Today I did try something different.

Lunch -

Smoothie - Yay a smoothie that is approved! I miss having these!

3 ounces 2% Cottage Cheese
3 ounces Fresh Spinach
5 ounces Frozen Strawberries
1 TBS Cocoa
2 Pkts of Sweetner. I used to dropers of Vanilla Stevia

Blend ......and...........Get over the color! It tastes good! Pour it in something that hides the color if it really bothers you. I'm used to drinking smoothies, so it doesn't bother me at all.

Someone posted this recipe on the boards and here is a link to the video on how to make it. You can FF to the 5-6:00 mark, that is where she explains how to make this.

Dinner -

1/2 Cucumber
1 Sm Grapefruit
1 Grissini

So close!!

Day 16 VLCD 140.4 (-.4)

Oh man! I'm so close to the 130's I can taste it!! Its a total mental thing for me. But once I get there, I will feel so much closer to my goal.

I've felt very comfortable at 137 before and looked pretty good. I've only been at 135 for about 1 week. Before that it was about 12 yrs ago. But at that time, I still thought I could stand to lose 5 lbs.
So, even though 135 was my original goal, I think 130 is where I'm shooting for. I'm sooo close!

10 sounds like a lot, but since I feel good at 135, it makes it seem closer.

I feel great and have energy and am so happy I have done this. I wish I could help everyone do this!!

Unfortunately, so many people are skeptical. I KNOW....it took me months to do this. I just hope that they see my success, and keep it off, to inspire them to do it and make the change.

Missing Exercise

Day 15 VLCD 140.8 (-.4) nearly 10 lbs lost pre load/13 lost post load!

I'm really starting to miss exercise. It's such a big part of my life, I never thought I'd say that, and it's probably because I can't, but I can't wait to get back to my heavy training workouts.

I went through my closet and I'm so excited I can wear all the things that used to be way too small. The great thing is, they look good and many of them are loose! I cannot wait to go clothes shopping after this!

Okay, meals are getting boring, but they work, so I'll keep my whining to a minimum.

Lunch -

Grilled Chicken
Spinach
1 Grissini
1/2 Grapefruit

Dinner -

Shimp
Diced Tomato
Apple

Hot tea with 1 TBS milk

Dinner was the worst! I had to prepare it ahead of time though and take it to the football fields, and it was the quickest and easiest thing I could think of and it filled me up. So there you have it!

One great thing about this diet it, it really takes the focus off the food. Really food right now is just to fuel me, not necessarily to enjoy. Though I DO enjoy most meals. I'm not as concerned with my meals. I hope this falls over into P3 & P4!

Friday, August 20, 2010

Whew! I did it!

Day 14 VLCD 141.2 (-.8)

I'm so happy that I lost .8 after no loss yesterday.

I have been really hungry today, I don't know why. I started taking potassium supplements. I hope that helps!

Lunch -

hCG Chili - Yummm
1 Grissini
1/2 Grapefruit
Hot tea

I am going to a fund raising function tonight, they are going to have dinner there. I know it will be tempting especially if I am hungry so I'm going to eat right before I leave at 5. Then bring my apple slices and Grissini to eat in the car, my hot tea, and my large water bottle with soda water in it. Hopefully those things will keep me full longer and help me through through the night!

Dinner -

4 Cups of Spinach
Grilled chicken
1 Grissini
Apple
Hot Tea

Whew! I did it! I made it through the night without eating anything! They had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans and rolls. It smelled really good. They had samples of chocolate and caramels on the table for everyone to have, and they were passing around bags of different kind of candy for everyone to try. Everyone kept saying...."Try this......ohhhh, Try that....This is good!" I didn't try any of it. I did bring my samples home for my kids though.

I hope the scale is very nice to me tomorrow to reward me of my efforts tonight. I've never been able to be this strong when I am eating healthy. Usually I take a bite or two!

Half Way There!

Day 13 VLCD - 0

No loss today. I'm not really surprised. Who knows what the Dentist put in my mouth yesterday to stall me. Plus I'm getting to the days where the scale does stop moving as much. I'm so happy with my results though. Even if I weren't to lose anymore. It will still be worth it.

I feel great though, my clothes are all really lose and that is what I'm focusing on.

Lunch -

1 Egg 3 whites w/ Franks hot sauce
4 cups of Spinach
1 apple
Tea

Dinner -

Chicken w/ Braggs
5 ounces Asparagus
1/2 Grapefruit
Tea

Calories - 416
Water - 140 ounces

I'm really nervous to get on the scale tomorrow. I hope it shows a loss, I don't feel any lighter!

Not a great day!

Day 12 VLCD 142 - .6 :)

Total Lost - 8lbs pre load/11 post load

Well today was not the greatest day. It started with a root canal, then not being able to find my car keys, and sitting in the sun in 110 degree heat watching the kids sports camp and many frustrating things in between. It ended with a little ice-cream celebration in which of course I didn't partake in.

There were so many times I wanted to eat off protocol, but I didn't. It did make me get creative with something that actually turned out good!

I made hot chai tea, added 1 TBS of milk and 1 1/2 tsp of cocoa powder and added 10 drops of vanilla Stevia. It was delish! Very satisfying.

Lunch -

hCG Chili - yummy!
1 cup strawberries
1 Grissini

Dinner - I brought to the field. It was good and still warm.

Nice Surprise!

Day 11 VLCD - 142.6 - 1! YAY! What a nice surprise!

Wow! I have two followers! :) I didn't know anyone read this. Cool!

Today I'm wearing an outfit that I couldn't fit into when I first bought it a few weeks ago and it's loose on me now!
What great motivation to keep going....boring food and all!

I was hungrier than normal today. I don't know if it's because of TOM or maybe I need to reduce my dose of drops. My stomach was growling before dinner and I took my drops and it magically disappeared! I LOVE this stuff!!

Meals today were yummy. I stuck with the basics.

Lunch -

Bunless Burger
Tomato diced up
Apple
1 Grissini

Dinner -

Chicken w/Franks hs
4 cups of Spinach cooked
1 cup of Strawberries
1 Grissini

Calories - 479 -Yay! Closer to 500 than I've been in a while
Water - 135 ounces

TOM just visited me!

Day 10 VLCD 143.6 -0 (No Loss)

I didn't journal yesterday, but I did lose .6 from Friday. Woo hoo!

I'm not upset about not losing today because TOM (time of the month) arrived and usually I gain 3-5 lbs, so I'm actually pretty happy.

I really am starting to miss working out. I watch my friend race in a triathlon I was supposed to race in today. It was hard to not be racing but I don't regret my decision. I am down almost 2 pant sizes in just a bit over a week! Next time I put on my Tri suit, I won't have big bulges sticking out all over the place and hopefully my times will be better after losing 20 lbs! I can't wait!!!!

I was just telling my husband how amazing it is that of all the exercise and clean eating, I have done in the past and haven't lost weight. I am FINALLY able to lose weight. My son said "And you're not even exercising! That must have been the cause of it!" LOL :)

My meals filling, but I am getting soooo tired of the same thing. Every time I've tried to get creative, it has flopped. So I'm sticking with the basics. Braggs & Frank are my best friends.

Lunch -
3.5 ounces Shrimp w/ Franks - Wooo HOOOO something different!
on a bed of lightly cooked spinach. Tasty!
1 Grissini - I need to get back to consciously eating this. Because I blinked again and it was gone! I actaully thought I put it down somewhere and was looking for it before I realized I DID eat it. I love the taste of the garlic flavored ones.

Losing Inches!

Day 8 VLCD 144.2 (-.6 Total 6.6 Pre Load 9.6 Post Load)

Starting Weight PreLoad 150.6/153.6 Post

Goal 135/130

I measured, weighed and took my weekly photos today. I'm still far from where I want to be. I'm thinking 130 is really closer to where I need to be instead of 135.

I don't think anyone can argue this is all water weight!

I've lost 6.6 lbs from pre load and 9.4 post load.
lost 2% BF

-1/2 inch in chest that I'd really like to keep.
- 1 1/2 Waist
- 3/4 Hips
- 3/4 Thigh

I can really tell a difference in my pictures even after one week. I'm pretty excited. I'm still just shocked my body is releasing fat!

I am soooo glad I stayed strong last night and didn't water from Protocol. I'll need to do it again tonight as it is friday family pizza night. That is okay. It is totally worth it and soon enough I will be able to add in things like that OCCASIONALLY.

Dinner - Was on the road again. Thank goodness for being prepared! I made my dinner before picking up hubby at the airport. Good thing I did and brought it with me because his plane was delayed an hour and I was starving!
We went to a pizza place and this time I was able to eat in the car while they ate inside, then I joined them. Much easier. Thank goodness for having my dinner with me though. I don't know if I could have passed up the pizza!

3.5 ounces bunless burger
3 ounces asparagus
1/2 grapfuit
1 Grissini

I did much better with calories today. I also wasn't as hungry.

1 Week Down, 2 to Go!

Day 7 VLCD 144.8 (-.6)

It is getting easier and easier on the diet. Mainly due to the fact I'm not starving all the time anymore. I was a little nervous about leaving the security on my house today all day where I would be tempted with food, but I prepared mine ahead of time and everything went great!
It certainly helps to stay on track with such fast results!

Lunch -

Grilled Chicken w/ Franks Hot Sauce (I think I'm addicted)
1/2 Cucumber
1/2 Grapefruit

I forgot my Grissini, but honestly it's so tiny, I don't miss it when I don't eat it. So unless I'm really hungry, or feel the need to have a carb, why bother?

My clothes are fitting so much better and I'm even wearing clothes that were too small for me.
No more muffin top! I got a glimpse of myself in mirrors several times today at the mall and for a change, I wasn't disgusted with myself!

Dinner

Grilled Chicken & Asparagus w/Braggs
Apple w/Cinnamon
Grissini

Dinner was much less satisfying than dinner. AND I had to watch my family eat dinner at my favorite restaurant because we were at a meeting ran late and everyone was starving. Good thing I had prepared my dinner! But, it was hard. I am glad I stayed strong as hard as it was and I'm sure I will be happy when I step on the scale tomorrow.

Calories - 390

I was gone all day and didn't have time to log my calories. I'm going to make an effort to stay closer to 500 calories. I can't believe I was slow low today! Yikes.

LOVIN' This Diet!

So the fear of weighing was not needed. I dropped another 1.6 lbs! Adios baby!

Woo hoo! Can't believe I'm on day 6!

Day 6 VLCD 145.6 (-1.6) 5 lbs loss total - just 5 days!

Today was the first day I didn't wake up hungry. Maybe dosing a few more drops a day is what I needed. I'm hungry now, but haven't had any water yet either. I dosed 15 drops instead of 10. We will see how that works.

I'm excited about this diet. I can't believe it really works. The scale has NEVER moved for me before. No matter what I did....yeast free, green smoothies, low carb, raw food, whole foods.....

This is a miracle to me. SO worth being hungry and a little grumpy at times (don't ask my family about the latter one, they may not agree. ;) ). If it can really reset my hypothalamus....whooot!

I fit into a pair of shorts today that I purchased a few months ago and was never able to wear because they were really binding. They fit very comfortably today! What a difference 5 lbs makes!

Another great thing is I'm getting that euphoric feeling everyone is talking about.

I thought lunch today was going to be another disaster. I wanted to make my faux omlette but I found out salsa is not Protocol, so it was recommended I try hot sauce. I've never tried it before, but was willing to. I started cooking the eggs in a little bit of water so they won't burn and I'm thinking this is going to be discusting. So I then find out I'm out of spinach. GREAT.
I finish making it anyway and sprinkled hot sauce and Tony Chacherees on it. OMG! It was really good. I ate my Grissini with it, in between bites and it was quite satisfying and filling!

Lunch-

1 whole egg/2 whites scrambled w/hot sauce and seasoning
Grissini
1/2 Cucumber
1/2 Grapefuit

Still not hungry! Yay!

Dinner-

3.5 ounces Grilled Chicken with Franks Hot Sauce (Mmmm that is going to be a regular)
5 ounces Asparagus
1 cup of strawberries
Hot tea

Increasing the drops to 3x15 worked really well for me today. I was hardly hungry and filled up quickly. My meals were really yummy today. Can't wait to have eggs again next week!

Calories - 435 - Only 435 calories and I wasn't hungry!
Water - 144 ounces

I'm excited to weigh in the morning. :)

Ugh Oh!

Day 5 VLCD 147.2 (-.2)

I only lost .2 lbs. But......I am actually relieved because as bloated as I was feeling, I thought for sure I would have gained 3 lbs.

So.....is it the Splenda from yesterday, the accidental pouring of garlic salt in my chili, or my TOM. As emotional as I've been, I'm thinking it's my TOM. Time will tell.

Well today lunch was a bit strange.

I accidentally cooked my beef that wasn't a full portion, but didn't notice the label on the baggie until it was cooked. Turned out it was only 1 1/4 ounces! Ooops!

I thought I'd just add on to dinner, but I was hungry and didn't want to skimp on protein as important as it is, so I grabbed a bag of chicken that was already defrosted and just happened to be 1 3/4.

So even though it's a big no-no to mix proteins, at least I didn't go over.
Lets just hope it doesn't show up on the scale tomorrow. The particulars on this diet are enough to drive you crazy. I'm a go-with-the-flow type of person and this is certainly not a go-with-the-flow type of diet!

Lunch -
1/2 grapefruit
1 Grissini
1 1/4 ounces of grilled beef patty
1 3/4 ounces of grilled chicken breast

I'm almost getting used to being hungry. It's quite amazing that right after I take my drops, my stomach stops growling. maybe I need to increase my dose?

I wasn't as bloated in the morning but by late afternoon again. I felt like I was retaining a lot of water.

Dinner -

110 g Grilled Chicken
2 cups of Spinach
1 cup Strawberries
1 Grissini

I'm so nervous to weigh tomorrow being that I am bloated again! :(

I'm so tired of being hungry, before lunch I tried 12 drops and before dinner 15 drops instead of 10. I was not hungry! Yipee!!

Day 4 VLCD

147.4 (- 1.6)

Wow, down again! I haven't been at this weight in about a year in spite of eating really clean and exercising.

Sparkling water helps me a lot with hunger. I ran out, so hubby went to get me some. I was in a hurry this morning and didn't think to look at the ingredients, I just filled my glass and left in a hurry. (I added a splash of lemon juice and Stevia and it tasted just like Sprite! Even hubby thought so.)
By the time I got home, I was hungry again, so I went to make more and noticed on the ingredients, it had Splenda in it! Darn! I have heard of a lot of people gaining or stalling with Stevia. I really hope that does NOT happen to me!

I am always really hungry in the am, but between lunch and dinner, I feel fine. Maybe I should eat one of my fruits for breakfast. I'm hoping the hunger will end soon like it does for most people.

Lunch -

Chicken & Asparagus grilled with a spritz of Braggs. Mmmmm Yummy!!
1 cup of strawberries
1 Grissini

Dinner -

I made the hcg Chili! Mmm delish! My favorite meal so far.
I used my tomato for the chili

Dessert - Apple warmed in a pan with cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice. Topped with ground grissini. I could only eat 1/2. I was so full.

Water 160 ounces

I drank a lot of water today because this afternoon I felt bloated. I think it's because I accidentally poured the garlic salt into the chili! ooops!

I'm thinking I'm either going to have a gain or not lose anything because I feel so bloated. :( UGH!

Day 3 VLCD 148.2 (-1.6)

I am so happy to see the scale move down again! That is a bigger loss than I was expecting.

I should be in a great mood, but my lunch today was totally disgusting. I miss my breakfasts. AND coffee. To top it off, everyone at church had a cup of coffee and choc chip cookies. The nerve!

I am still totally grateful and thankful that I lost 1.6 lbs though! It IS totally worth it. :)

Since we were going to church at 11:00, I thought I'd have my veggie and fruit before we left, and have my Grissini and protein when we got back around 1:30.

Lunch was a disaster. I was trying to do something different. I miss my green smoothies, so I made one with just a handful of spinach and strawberries. It was really gross. I even added Stevia. I need a banana! Since I can't have one, I thought I'd just have a spinach - strawberry salad. Looks delish huh?

It was gross. I can't eat lettuce or spinach without dressing and I'm really not too hip on vinegar. I sprinkled some lemon and vinegar and thought, with the strawberries it might be tasty. Nope! It tasted like I was chewing on a bush. Yuck!
So I cooked down the spinach a little. Only it ended up being a lot. I over cooked it and it was really chewy! The strawberries were tasty though. :)

After church I was pretty hungry. I couldn't wait to eat. I made my ground chicken breast patty seasoned with Tony Chacherees. I must have overcooked that too! It tasted like plastic. Really. It did. I had to put a little bit of salsa on it, just to choke it down.

As bad as my cooking has gone today, I'm really not looking forward to dinner for a change!

I have been feeling really good today. I have lots of energy and I'm not hungry. I'm feeling a lot more confident about this diet.

Dinner -
Was much better! It was delish!

Grilled Burger (organic grass-fed)
Asparagus lightly sprayed with Braggs. Mmmmmm!
Grissini
Apple sprinkled with cinnamon

To stay on this diet, you really have to enjoy the food and aside from today, I really have. Tomorrow I'd like to try the Chili. I need to go get more of those delicious tomatoes!

I am also going to pick up the flavored Stevia drops. My Stevia is powder and it has a very bitter taste. The drops are expensive, but if it saves me from a sweet tooth, it's worth it. And maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to use it in my coffee. I'm not sure I can drink it on just a TBS of milk though. :(

Today was a success!

The moment of truth......da.....da.....da.......DA!!!!!!!!

Drumm roll please!

After my first VLCD, I lost -3.6 lbs!! Granted, 3 of them are from loading, and .6 of it could be water. But I am cautiously optimistic, since my scale only likes to register numbers that
increase. :)

Day 2 VLCD 150.0 (- 3.6 lbs)

Today was much better than yesterday! I was a little hungry, but nothing I felt I couldn't handle. Most of the time, I was fine. My energy has been very good the last few days. I have noticed I'm not as tired. That is a nice aspect I wasn't expecting. Maybe this really can reset my whacked out thyroid!
I'm amazed that right after I take the drops, I'm not hungry! I wish I could take them more often!

I took my drops at 9am. I didn't start getting hungry until about 11:00! Yipee!

Lunch was delish!

Grilled Chicken Breast 3.5 ounces - spritzed with Braggs
4 cups of Spinach
1 cup of Strawberries
1 Grissini

I got hungry around 2 or 3 and drank more water and had lemon-lime soda water with some squeezed lemon juice and Stevia in it. Mmmmm. I don't remember who suggested it, but it was really helpful.

Dinner -

I meant to get some fish to vary my diet a little, but I didn't. :)

Last night's burger was so good, I decided to go for it again. I ate it way earlier because I thought I'd be going to the pool, so I had that with a grissini at 4:30. We didn't end up going to the pool after all. I waited to eat my tomato and 1/2 grapfruit until I got hungry. Guess what time it was? 7:00! I was stoked! Maybe I should split it up like that more often. We will see what the scale says in the morning. I can't wait to go to bed so I can find out!

And the Thunder Rolled..........

Actually, that would be my stomach GROWLING! Though, it did sounds like a serious thunderstorm!!

Day 1 VLCD - 153.6 (+ 3.6 thanks to those lovely loading days.)

I woke up hungry, took my drops, drank 24 ounces of water and it held me over for a while. But by 10 or 11, I was counting down the minutes to lunch.

Bfast - Water/club soda/hot green tea

I do miss my typical bfast of egg whites, black beans and salsa with my coffee. :( I need to come up with a new habit in the morning so I don't miss it so much.

Lunch - Ground Chicken Breast bunless burger grilled with mustard
1 Grissini - OMG seriously? why bother. I blinked and it was gone.
1/2 cucumber
handful of strawberries
water

It was actually a very nice satisfying lunch and after that, I felt fine for a while. But a few hrs before dinner, my stomach was growling so loud! I was ready to chew off my right arm. I started counting down the hours to go to bed, so I would be put out of my misery!

Dinner - Organic Grass-fed beef patty (less fat and healthier than regular beef)
1 tomato sliced and salted. Mmmmmm yummiest tomato from a local farm!
1 measly Grissini
1/2 of an apple cut in small pieces and sprinkled with cinnamon. (I wanted the whole thing, but my beef was more calories than my chicken and I had to stay under 500.

My total calories for the day, was spot on 500. I drank 128 ounces of water.

Speaking of calorie counting. I'm getting quite a varied amount depending on what site I go to. My usual are fitday, calorieking and my Ap "Lose It!)
Usually it's not that big of a deal, but when you CANNOT go over 500 calories a day, and you're starving and one says you have 25 more to go and one says your 25 over.
It makes a big deal when your stomach is growling and 1/2 a cucumber would fill you up at 25 calories!

So we will see what the scale will say tomorrow!!!! The meals were very satisfying and tasty, it was just a few moments of the day where I was miserable.

Load Day 2

Weight - 152.4 (+1.8)

I hope this is just a fluke. I woke up at 4 am. STARVING. Not just a little hungry, but the kind of hungry you get when you feel like you are going to throw up! I took my drops and went back to bed.

Today I loaded up the best I could, trying to find foods that contains high fats. (This is so weird to me. I can't believe I'm doing this.) From what I've been told, the better you do in the load days, the less hungry you are when you start the low calorie diet.

B-fast - Egg & Bacon McMuffin
Hashbrowns
Sm Mocha Frapachino

I was out all morning and starving for lunch! But I had to go home and take my drops first! On the rare occasion I splurge, a b-fast like this keeps me full much longer. I try not to think to much about it. I need to eat!

Lunch - Cheeseburger (Out of habit, I said hold the mayo, but remembered to add fat, so I did and got mayo on it. Wow! It was good! I didn't know what I had been missing.)
What's a cheeseburger without french fries? So I had that too and a coke.

Ugh Oh, a few hrs later and I'm hungry! What is up with this?? I'm used to eating waaaay less and not being hungry at all. What is going on??

Snack -Had a snickers. Yuck!!!! Ugh! Can't WAIT to start eating clean again.

I was worried a wouldn't be hungry for dinner just a few hrs later. Ummm. No. That wasn't a problem. What is going on? Why am I hungry on a load day??? Not to mention after gorging myself!

Girls Night Out! My favorite.....Mexican Food!

Dinner - Chips & Salsa, margarita (I know it's not fat, but why not? ;)
Fajita beef taco, refried beans, and rice. There. That ought to hold off my hunger for the night.

I can't believe this! A few hours later and my stomach is GROWLING! What is going on? I'm really, really concerned and worried and nervous about my first VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet) tomorrow!

I don't do hungry well. I get shaky and nauseous, and grumpy! I hope this diet works for me! I have sacrificed my training and my races, and gaining weight!!
It works for so many others. It would be my luck. Have I said I'm nervous? I am. Especially after gaining 1.8 lbs! Because I know my body, and it will not let them go.

Time to eat again! SOMEONE ate the last of the ice cream! :( I guess chips and guacamole will have to do. It doesn't take much and I'm full.

I'm nervous about what tomorrow will bring!

Load Day 1

Starting Weight - 150.6

Today is my birthday and I'm looking forward to loading and eating all the things I haven't let myself eat! My diet has been clean for so long, I'm really looking forward to eating my favorites!

I woke up and weighed, took my measurements and photos. UGH! Not a great way to start a 40th b-day. I look worse than I thought. I really hope this works!

The goal on load days is to fill up on fat. I tried to pick foods that were high in fat. I should probably load up on healthy fats......but I didn't. :)

Breakfast - 1 1/2 Cinnamon Grands (darn, each was only 6 grams of fat! LOL I thought I'd get more out of it than that.), 2 eggs with bacon bits and jalapeno jack cheese and a latte. The first few bites of the cinnamon roll was good, I had to force myself to eat the rest of my meal.

Yuck! I thought I was going to throw up.
My body is really used to eating clean. I guess that is a good thing!

OOOOPs! I forgot to take my hcg drops! I waited 30 minutes, then took them. I hope this doesn't mess things up.

Lunch - I remembered to take my drops! Lunch was equally disgusting aside from the yummy guacamole I made. Potato skins, chips & guacamole and coke.

Dinner - Drops 30 minutes before dinner
Hubby took me out to eat for my birthday. It was fabulous!!! I had lots of bread and chipotle butter, fillet mignon topped with crab and bernaise sauce on a bed of asparagus and served with scallops, and a side of cheesy jalapeno potatoes and 2 glasses of merlot.
Dessert consisted of chocolate lava cake with ice-cream, coffee and cream and champage!
I couldn't breathe afterward, but it was sooo worth it!!

They're heeeeere!

I can't believe my drops are here already! I ordered them on Sunday, and they are here and it's only Tuesday! I'm so excited to get started I can't stand it. This works out perfect, my birthday is Wednesday and girls night out Thursday. Perfect load days!!

Here goes!

Why hCG?

One word. Desperation. Nothing else has worked, what do I have to lose? Aside from my husband, no one else knows, so I can't lose credibility, only my mind....which I think I have already lost because this goes against EVERYTHING I've been taught for nutrition and as a Personal Trainer!

I mean it goes against EVERYTHING!

I first heard about the hCG Diet from a client.

  • What? No exercise? No way!
  • Only 500 calories a day? You're body will go into starvation mode and you will lose muscle! Besides, anyone can lose weight on 500 calories!
  • Lose 1-2 lbs a day? Impossible. You can only lose 1-2 lbs of fat per week, anymore is water and/or muscle
  • Inject yourself with a pregnancy hormone that costs $1200? Can you say SCAM! OK, that really is a scam! I got my drops for $39 and I know you can find them even cheaper!
  • Gorge yourself for 2 days on high fat, high calorie food? Ummmm, yeah. THAT sounds healthy!

So I talked her out of it. I did read up on it though, and from everything I read, it confirmed my beliefs.

I heard about it again, several months later from a homeopath that I really respected. She wasn't using it with her clients, but her friend did it and lost 20 lbs and she struggled with thyroid issues too. So I looked it up, and again, put it off.

A month later, I got an email from a well respected Dr. that puts out healthy webinars. He was doing one on weight loss with hCG. So I began researching and I came across a lot of blogs of real people who were having real success.

I became obsessed with finding out more information about the hCG diet. For a week straight, that is all I could think about. I read every blog, forum, website and youtube video I could find about the diet. Then I got the crazy idea of trying it. The only problem was you can't exercise and I had two really important races coming up. One was a big distance goal I had been training hard for. What should I do?

Our summer vacation is coming up and it would be fabulous to be 15-20 lbs lighter and feel comfortable in a bathing suit for a change.

So, I decided to try it. I braced myself for my husbands reaction. (He's a personal trainer too) Surprisingly, he was supportive. Wow. Much more than I would have been with this crazy sounding diet. He's an awesome husband and supportive of everything I do.

I ordered my homeopathic drops. No injections for me, thank you very much! They arrived the very next day! Yikes! I planned my load day for my birthday and the following night was girls night out. PERFECT!!

BTW.....I'm still a HUGE skeptic! But I will follow the protocol to Dr. Simeons "Pounds and Inches" to a "T" and give it a chance.

About Me

I am a personal trainer and love to do triathlons and run. I've done a handful of 1/2 Marathons and one Marathon. My true love though, is Triathlons.

My start into the world of endurance sports began after my second child. I had a hard time losing the weight I gained during pregnancy. I thought if I took my focus off losing weight, it would happen. So for about three years I did Triathlons and 1/2 marathons. Well, even that didn't work.

I went to the Dr. because I knew I was expending much more energy than I was taking in. She ran a series of test which showed I was hypothyroid. Relieved that I had a reason for what I had been feeling and a hope that I could finally change my body weight, I went on Armour for my thyroid. My hope was short lived however because it still didn't help me lose weight.

I certainly know how to eat healthy and what type of exercise I need to be doing. Nothing was working. I changed my diet it several times to find something that would work. Juicing, green smoothies, coconut oil, yeast free diet, gluten free..... you name it. Nothing worked. I was beyond frustrated. To top it off, I was really beginning to enjoy Triathlons and had done several. But it was impossible to decrease my finishing time because of the extra 15-20 lbs I was carrying.
